I'd never been a great Hillary fan until observing her as our voice to the world on the international stage over the last 3 years.
Perfect tone and substance delivered with genuine human emotion. Just perfect.

President Obama and Sec. Clinton console State Dept employees after speaking to them about the attack in Benghazi

(20,998 posts)Her dignity, grace and statesmanship have served this President and this Nation well.
My hat is off to Mrs. Clinton.
On edit: It is my hope that Secretary Clinton will run for President in 2016. She would be the *PERFECT* first female President of the United States. I would be proud to support her candidacy.

At the time I thought this would be my only chance to vote for a woman for President. It certainly wasn't against Obama as at that time we kinda knew we would be voting for him in the General...

(57,936 posts)But she was born in 1947. She will be 69 years old in 2016. And four years later she will be 74.
While she won't be too old to do a lot of jobs well, I think the job of president nowadays is too stressful for a person of that age.

Our presidents age in the White House. The burden is tremendous.
Remember Ronald Reagan.
He was born in 1911 and entered the White House in 1981. I wouldn't say that the stress of the presidency caused or was associated with his Alzeheimers. But he really didn't deal with that stress well while serving.

Hillary Clinton has already lived eight years in the White House. She has had a wonderful, rewarding career. The time comes to stop working and lend your expertise and support to others. Hillary Clinton does not need to take that stress upon herself. It would be foolish.

(15,445 posts)but her statemanship and humanity have just amazed me.
Something about her feminine sensibilities makes her an even more authentic voice for the nation at this difficult time than either the Pres. or Vice Pres.

(1,185 posts)She will not suffer the bruising of 2008, but give Obama his due, pre-arranged or not, he appointed her to a place where she could shine on the world stage...something he never got...and she's done us all proud.
And if she's drafted, I believe the Democratic Party will get behind her. She and Bill deserve for her to have her day in the Oval Office.

(20,136 posts)I do think right now she's not even thinking about it. But once she leaves in January and has nothing to do for a little while, and has some time to think, she'll consider it.

(8,311 posts)And I almost lit into one of my more conservative friends on FB (I have a small group of conservatives on my list who can debate without going totally apeshit insane and actually discuss policy, fortunately none of them are homophobic... got rid of the last one there because I apparently offended them so badly by saying how I felt the religiously conservative who insist on discriminating against homosexuals are not being true to the Bible or to Jesus's commandment to "Love thy neighbor" who dared to criticize her appearance.
He quickly backed down to saying that she just looked tired and he was worried about her, but I linked the Sexism Sells, But We're Not Buying It video and made it clear that I wasn't going to tolerate people judging her on her looks -- of COURSE she looked tired and grief-stricken! She probably hasn't had a wink of sleep, and knew the people who died.
It was Mitten's smirking face every time that he answered a question from the press with what he saw as a zinger that pissed ME off.
Edit: Meh, trying to fix my link. It doesn't like me today. So here it is down at the bottom.

(19,288 posts)She would have made a stately POUTUS, too, but the opposition party is so ugly, hateful, and obstructive, that I would have hated having her exposed directly to their ignorant misplaced abuse. They are so unfair and unkind about Obama, that I'm glad she is not the target.
Love you, Hillary, you go girl!!!
