Explaining coronavirus to Trump is like 'bringing fruits to the volcano': Administration official

Published 1 min ago on May 14, 2020

President Donald Trump’s aides say he’s “impervious to reason” as they try to steer him through the coronavirus crisis.

It took weeks to make Trump understand the gravity of the situation, but administration officials said the president remains difficult to reach with science-based evidence, reported the Financial Times.

“[It’s like] bringing fruits to the volcano,” said one administration official. “You’re trying to appease a great force that’s impervious to reason.”

“People turn into wusses around Trump,” said one former senior Trump official. “If you stand up to him, you’ll never get back in. What you see in public is what you get in private. He is exactly the same.”

Rule 1: Nobody tells Spanky what to do.

Rule 2: Everything King Scat Midas touches goes to crap.

There are no other rules.

to identify him publicly as "a fucking idiot." Well, not the first person ever, plenty in history before him but first after Trump was awarded the presidency.

would see it.

“Jared [Kushner] had been arguing that testing too many people, or ordering too many ventilators, would spook the markets and so we just shouldn’t do it,”

What a stupid, poorly-reasoned argument. For almost three months economists and investors giving interviews on Bloomberg have been saying, "The markets won't come back until we have testing and medical supplies..."

How damned dumb are these people?

Never heard that expression before: "Bringing fruits to the volcano." I guess it's kind of like "Casting pearls before swine", which is really unfair to pigs because pigs are highly intelligent and friendly.

That's what he is referring to. Except, of course, there's no appeasing a volcano that's as dumb as Trump.
