The special elections in California and Wisconsin are a warning sign to Democrats to get the vote

out or we will have another four years of trump.

The 25th district, Katie Hill's seat, was with mail in ballots, and from what I gather the Democratic turnout with those mail in ballots was dismal indeed, and the results are that a republican now has Katie Hills seat

If we are complacent, its over

With the exception of the 2018 wave, CA-25 had been Republican for 25 years.

Given the history of squashing votes, isn't it just as likely that the votes weren't counted?

Just what else were we supposed to do, to get those lazy ass voters in CA to vote? I mean, really. They literally could vote from the comfort of their couches. It was literally hand delivered to their houses. This isn't standing in line for hours, it isn't even leaving one's house. It is coloring in an oval, putting a piece of paper in an envelope, putting the envelope in your mail box, and that is literally it. Barring us actually voting for them, I don't see what else we can do. At some point, grown ass adults, have to actually, God forbid, put forth some minimal effort. Honestly, I am completely disgusted with these lazy ass voters.

Hopefully Democratic voters will pay more attention in November when the seat is up again?

Karen Handel in Kentucky was defeated after possibly "stealing" the special election against Jon Ossoff in Georgia. (Ossoff is now running for Senate).

So we'll see.

Too many counties in the UK, the conservatives won because people didn't show up to vote. Don't think that it can't happen here.

Biden is holding a steady lead over Trump in the polls ever since last Fall. He's even building a lead among seniors in FLA.

If we all vote, Trump loses. If all of us don't vote, Trump wins.

Gerrymandering is the culprit in WI. Until something changes the gerrymandered WI 07 I'm afraid no Democrat will ever get that seat.

It is that simple. The numbers make that seat perpetually safe. It was built with that intention and it remains so.

That was before the gerrymandering happened.

I know it’s become more Republican sine then, but it was leaning Red before any gerrymandering took place.

He was the DA in Ashland County. Well known also as a former "World Champion" lumberjack. Born and raised in Hayward Wisconsin. He lived in Ashland at the time.

Subsequent to his first term election the GOP BUILT the larger WI 07 to incorporate disproportionately more republicans. Duffy moved his family from Ashland to Wausau to be in the center of a republican stronghold. The statewide redistricting was done in secret in a downtown Madison Wi law office WITHOUT any Democratic input.

WI 07 has been considered one of the country's "worse" gerrymander districts.

Millions if not billions have been dump into Wi from outside sources to use it as a test state to push an extreme right-wing agenda.
Scott Walker was the puppet that served the billionaires and pushed their agenda. Starting with destroying the teachers union.

My bet is someone in the future will write a PhD thesis about the intentional steps taken to alter a once progressive blue state into a right-wing model for extreme right-wing policies.

The problem is- a large part of the dem base/ voters under 30, have never mailed anything in their life. It is a foreign concept to them. They will let the ballets sit in their junk mail pile and not bother with it. They are on their phones and Facebook or whatnot. People can point to Oregon as a success for mail in voting , but the population of Oregon is not indicative of most of the country and Democratic base.
