After more than two decades of losing, that futility may soon come to an end.
A special election to fill a vacant House seat to the north of Los Angeles is highly competitive, both sides agree, pitting Democratic Assemblywoman Christy Smith against first-time Republican candidate Mike Garcia.
The closeness is due in good part to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Personally I think they're sniffing their own farts but we'll see.

(25,111 posts)Which is in the Antelope Valley (Lancaster/Palmdale). Lancaster and Palmdale have large communities of t-rump supporters, seriously. I was surprised that Katie Hill won.
But, at present, if the minority portion votes, it will be very tight.

(15,823 posts)39 percent of Repugs and 25 percent of Democratic voters turned them in so far. That needs changed ASAP. Tuesday is the election.

(31,261 posts)We saw that in 2018, where the late counted ballots broke heavily Dem. Let's hope that pattern holds in this case.
