'Scary to Go to Work': White House Races to Contain Virus in Its Ranks

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is racing to contain an outbreak of Covid-19 inside the White House, as some senior officials believe that the disease is already spreading rapidly through the warren of cramped offices that make up the three floors of the West Wing.

Three top officials leading the government’s response effort began two weeks of self-quarantine after two members of the White House staff — Katie Miller, the spokeswoman for Vice President Mike Pence, and one of President Trump’s personal valets — tested positive. But others who came into contact with Ms. Miller and the valet are continuing to report to work at the White House.

“It is scary to go to work,” Kevin Hassett, a top economic adviser to the president, said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” program on Sunday. Mr. Hassett said he wore a mask at times at the White House, but conceded that “I think that I’d be a lot safer if I was sitting at home than I would be going to the West Wing.”

He added: “It’s a small, crowded place. It’s, you know, it’s a little bit risky. But you have to do it because you have to serve your country.”

The discovery of the two infected employees has prompted the White House to ramp up its procedures to combat the coronavirus, including daily tests for some senior staff, increased usage of masks and more rigorous screening of people entering the complex.

Sympathy for the political hacks. They chose to work for donnie bodybags, so they deserve all the consequences of their decisions.

The civil service employees and staffers, the "elite military unit", those who did not willingly choose, they are the ones for whom I feel sorry.

I wonder if Trump will let the WH dock at a U.S. port. Don't want to get those numbers up any higher than they are. (sarcasm)

grifting sexual predator is NOT "serving your country". It is acknowledging that you are just as bad, just as corrupt, just as evil, as he is.

Please proceed with self-fornication. Don't bother with guidelines that have Ben out for months. Be sure your life insurance is paid up.

It's scary to go to work for people in the White House where the health security is the best in the nation and certainly miles above what the average person in the USA gets.

Small, crowded place ... gosh, are these Snowflakes thinking they are having the same horrific working conditions amid this virus that the meatpackers and healthcare workers have?

My sympathies are not with these morons. I hope they all get the virus.

Daily tests -- I know people who were refused tests even though they had all the symptoms of Covid 19... they were sent home after being told they had the flu (and no, they were not given a flu test either). So fuck all the Snowflakes in the West Wing.

I'm not sure I believe there are two infected employees. It may be hoax. Oh, gee, where have I heard that before?
