Pro gun nuts are incompetent fools when it comes to gun safety. They should be mocked for this.

My father taught me how to be safe with a weapon at a young age. Never treat a weapon likes it a toy. Always assume the weapon is loaded. Never point a weapon at anybody even if you know it's not loaded. You have to be safe with a weapon 100% of the time.

You never walk around with a weapon in public even if it is legal. Someone could get killed. It's not safe.

You never bring a weapon to a debate or argument. Someone could get killed. It's not safe.

If you see someone who looks suspicious in your neighborhood, you do not bring a weapon with you to check it out. Someone could get killed. It's not safe.

When it comes to gun safety, pro gun nuts are the worst, they are fools and they should be told and mocked about this truth.

..but you overreach when asserting that legally carrying a weapon in public is inherently unsafe.

Your point might be correct when it comes to concealed pistols carried by CCW licencees. It is not correct when it comes to military-style long weapons. There is no earthly reason for such carrying at all. In many states, such firearms must be unloaded for carrying, so they are essentially useless as weapons in an emergency.

Such carrying serves no function other than intimidation. That is why people carry them and dress in fake "tactical" clothing and gear. They seek to intimidate. There is no logic in that type of open carry, which should be prohibited everywhere, in my opinion.

That is unsafe and I will give you example. If I took my niece and nephews out to a store. In walks a bunch of assholes carrying assault rifles. There is a very, very good chance I would confront them. At that point things become unsafe. Things become unsafe because they are fucking idiots.

Thank goodness that cannot happen in NY State.

Context context context.

I'm mixed on open carry but don't believe it is inherently unsafe either. The manufactured argument that it may lure others into some sort of confrontation with a presumed criminal response is fallacious.

Again I'm not a fan of these protests, but I think "intimidation" is too strong. These are a show of force. Intimidation requires pointing or brandishing a gun or verbal threats of some sort. I don't see how just standing in place with your buddies gets us there.
