Nixon speaks to antiwar protesters, Lincoln Memorial, early morning, 50 years ago today. Haldeman in diary: "The weirdest day so far….I am concerned about his condition…He has had very little sleep for a long time and his judgment, temper and mood suffer badly as a result."

I agree it was a very weird day. I was Deputy Director of Protective Forces at the time and got a full report from the agents who were with President Nixon. I wrote about the incident in my book #FivePresidents.
