This is a campaign which I think will come into focus as the debates occur, Romney said, according to a transcript released by ABC of Romneys sitdown with Good Morning Americas George Stephanopoulos. The president got a bit of a bump after his convention. I got a bit of a bump after ours. Its going to go back and forth.
The debates, including the vice presidential debate, he said, could well be a decisive point in the campaign, and he added that while he wouldnt try to predict the outcome, he thought they would be revealing one way or another.
Romney also suggested that Obama might be untruthful during the debates.

(35,015 posts)That's the GOP/Rove guiding principle, and knowing that, this stupid ass comment by Romney isn't a surprise at all. I think Romney's going to find out quickly though, he's going to have a very tough time convincing enough people it's true to help him.

he cannot prove one single "not true"
thing President Obama has ever said.
What a truly awful deceitful person Mitt is.

(2,286 posts)I predict Romney will be the one telling the most lies.
1StrongBlackMan
(31,849 posts)1) the romney supporters will do what they always do ... ignore the fact-checkers because ... well ... they're checking facts!
2) the media will do the "they both do it" thing again. So expect the media to declare a President Obama statement of: "A canine is a dog" as false and then equate it to the romney statement, "A cat is a canine."
And failing that, I expect the media to parse President Obama's statements in order to make false a point that President Obama wasn't making. (See: CNN's fact-check of President Obama's 4.5 million jobs created statement).

(37,162 posts)His entire "you built that" theme is based on the surgical extraction of one sentence from it's (very obvious) context. You can't include any of the words before or after and still maintain what Romney claims.
And, of course, that's just one lie to confirm another lie: that the President is "anticapitalist" in any way.

180K and up is the top 5%. that has nothing to do with the middle
Let's say you just want to see the middle 2/5 to 4/5 that would be from 20K to 105 K
oddly enough Obama thinks up to 250K is middle class.
I have a lot of friends and relatives who think they are middle class and don't earn near that, they think that is pretty damn rich.

(34,108 posts)This statement is a lie. He got practically no bump and Obama got a discernible one.
He lies while saying our President might be untruthful during the debates.

(14,177 posts)Personally I don't even think it was a light tap in the polls. I think it was just one of the daily anomalies that happen from time to time. I think if we graph the last couple of months we won't really find even a tap for those days. Even if Romney did get a slight bump, he is implying that Obama only got a slight bump as well even though it is apparent that Obama's bump wasn't a daily anomaly at all and is still holding.

(42,766 posts)A CEO, a tea party member, and a union worker are all sitting at a table when a plate with a dozen cookies arrives. Before anyone else can make a move, the CEO reaches out to rake in eleven of the cookies. When the other two look at him in surprise, the CEO locks eyes with the tea party member. You better watch him, the executive says with a nod toward the union worker. He wants a piece of your cookie.

Another blunder by Mitt. The last thing he wants is to provoke fact checks.
What a mish mash of messages he delivers.
