(12,712 posts)Citing the Flynn case was appropriate, but haven't there now been a long string of challenges to the rule of law all through Trump's term? Didn't it really start to accelerate when Barr Barr the Hutt took over the DOJ as Trump's big lap dog?
I mean, we have seen dozens of examples of that and a blatant attempt to act above and outside of the law and Trump has verbally indicated that himself, several times. That seems to be the theme of this rogue Administration and the purpose of the Regime he is forging.
As we approach the General Election, it seems clear that this will not only continue, but increase dramatically, especially since there are sealed documents that define presidential powers that we don't know about, (yes, above and beyond war powers, etc.) and Trump that has alluded to.

(6,941 posts)Thanks to the Historic BLUE WAVE of 18 months ago.
Besides, I think it's total BS.
Gov. Cuomo said the orange mob boss doesn't have powers over the States.
I wish DUers would stop posting these and believe in Nancy Pelosi's real powers instead.

(17,602 posts)The spotlight needed to be on the candidates, and for him not to appear to be putting a thumb on the scale. Hanging back was a good approach.
Now he can be unleashed, though!

(3,282 posts)should have let him be convicted and pardoned. now the case is still available for the next legitimate DoJ to bring without the sweetheart deal.

(51,630 posts)dropped the case. It's not like there was a judicial decision made that he was innocent and the case can't be brought again for double jeopardy.
Basically DOJ is making a decision to not charge him. They don't have the power to absolve someone of a crime forever, just the power to not bring charges. A different DoJ could always decide that a crime was committed and charges should be brought.
Remember that his guilty plea to the one charge was a deal so that he, and his son, wouldn't be charged with other more serious crimes. Withdrawing the guilty plea will terminate that deal.

(51,630 posts)what Barr did isn't the be all and end all for this case but more like a detour. Thanks, that makes me feel less frustrated than the news and how they present it.
