Morning Joe a few minutes ago.
Remember, he was our ambassador to China under Obama, and a pretty smart guy, probably one of the more reasonable Reoublicans running for office.
Anyway, on the events in north Africa, he said they shouldn't be looking for an adviser-scapegoat for Rmoney's comments. At this point of an election process, the candidate has to own them. He went on about diplomacy, and I'm sure other DUers could provide actual quotes. My comments are what I understood in between making breakfast for the kids.

(7,960 posts)I imagine too, like just about anyone who's run against him, he truly despises Romney. It was interesting.

(102,360 posts)If we had to have a former Utah governor get THIS close to the WH, I sure as hell would have preferred Huntsman. That said, it can only be good for our side that we have total dunce, like Romney with all his baggage and innate lack of personality.

(2,900 posts)the opposition party to put up its most qualified guy. That was Huntsman. Remember, the Republicans are going to put out a massive suppress the vote effort, and we might actually get this guy as President, and he would be much worse than W Bush.

(11,804 posts)If they had thrown up a genuine tea-party candidate than those views could have been paraded out and viewed by the nation; Romneys doing his best to be a tea-partier but when the election is over they will let on that he is no real Republican/Conservative and bemoan that their ideas weren't actually put forward. And those who believe in the nonsense that this is a Tea-Party country will continue to believe it.

(17,656 posts). . . the people living in those countries because their governments are so new and it is also important for us to show restraint and use all of the resources we have at our disposal because that is how true diplomacy in the real world works!!!!
Romney lives in a fantasy world -- remember when he said he would put 3 aircraft carriers off of the coast of Iran in order to let them know we are serious -- that's how wars get started . . and that is all Romney and the neocons and the tea party members want, a war with Iran!!!

(25,406 posts)I was happy when he was eliminated as I think he would have given Obama more of a run for his money.

(39,451 posts)that the Republicans are complete idiots for not choosing Huntsman as their candidate.
As a Democrat, I am thankful they didn't because he is someone that would have been able to intelligently challenge our President. And he could have won over independents.
My favorite quote describing Huntsman "He is a Republican that doesn't suck".

(10,164 posts)Had they picked Huntsman, while I'd have still supported the President, at least I'd not have considered a GOP victory to be a disaster for the nation...like it would be with Romney.

(3,557 posts)You can't argue with his knowledge of foreign affairs. He would have known how to handle touchy situations. I'd like to think that you don't get to be the ambassador to one of the largest players in the international community by being an idiot (at least not when it comes to your handling of foreign policy [please don't throw W. Bush in my face. That'd totally mess up my point!]).
