This is the report of the strain of the virus that is now being reported.....lets see what the

orange hair lunatic has to say about this report......

From Market Watch to get manuscript for the virus in Arizona.....

Early research indicates the coronavirus has mutated, similar to SARS

By Jaimy Lee

Researchers said they have identified a mutation in samples obtained from patients who have been tested for COVID-19 that may indicate the virus is weakening and that potentially mirror a similar genetic mutation that occurred during the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) outbreak in 2003 and 2004, according to an accepted manuscript of a study published in the Journal of Virology on May 1. The University of Arizona researchers examined 383 samples of people who had been tested for COVID-19 (five had tested positive) and used next-generation sequencing to identify mutations in those five genomes. "Similar deletions in SARS-CoV-2 genomes are emerging, notably in the ORF8 gene that may potentially reduce virus fitness," the researchers wrote. They also found that many of the first Arizona cases appear to come from Europe, and not Wuhan, China, where the virus was first identified.

the good ole days.

Between the virus doing far far more harm than it has done, regardless of the strain, add to that a political party trying to kill us, preventing testing etc....

big big big problems ahead

Wherever the new strain appeared, it quickly infected far more people than the earlier strains that came out of Wuhan, China, and within weeks it was the only strain that was prevalent in some nations, according to the report. The new strain’s dominance over its predecessors demonstrates that it is more infectious, according to the report, though exactly why is not yet known.

medical professionals and scientists and get them on the record about this new development. Trump will just minimize it and say, "That's only one report" or trash Los Alamos scientists in some way, or twist the story so that the virus is getting weaker, not stronger and more contagious.

Trump is on the rampage this morning. He's a dangerous tornado, absolutely laying waste and moving towards a two prong strategy of blaming China for the virus and the Democrats for its spread. He's a homicidal lunatic and if we don't act now, we're fucked.

mutating into a weakened strain? Wouldn't that be...good news?

I still don't see how you interpret this as it's becoming more deadly. It seems it would be just the opposite. A similar mutation happened with SARS and that's when the virus started wane.

I guess when the virus came over from Europe it was more deadly because it has faster transmission rate........that makes it more deadly............

Makes for a mass of competing and conflicting assumptions, many wrong or gappy.

Actually, just read one thread that referred to a preprint claiming that the dominant strain in Europe and the US is due to a mutation that enabled easier transmission. https://news.yahoo.com/mutant-coronavirus-emerged-even-more-110046843.html

People weren't trying to dismiss it, they rather liked the idea. Perhaps "gloat" is too strong a word.

The virus mutates into weaker strains because that actually increases the spread by being less lethal to its hosts? Very Darwinian I suppose?

The virus's purpose is to reproduce. Thats it's only goal. Hard to do if you kill the host too quick. Also hard to do if outside pressure (medical intervention) causes hosts to be isolated/treated before its has ample time to spread. So due to this, the pressure is towards mutating to a more infectious and/or less severe(therefor less noticeable/less likely to be intervened) strain. That said, viruses don't mutate intelligently. Its not like they are purposely mutating. Mutations happen naturally when the virus replicates. It's just that the above factors have a tendency it squashing "bad" mutations before they have a chance to spread widely, thereby ending that line of mutation. The less severe ones live on to spread due to being less severe and not as noticeable or deadly.
