Mitt Romney, seeking to quell concerns about his foreign-policy credentials, continued his attacks on President Barack Obamas handling of protests in the Middle East by saying the U.S. seems at the mercy of events instead of shaping them.
The world needs American leadership, the Republican presidential candidate said at a campaign rally today in the battleground state of Virginia. The Middle East needs American leadership.

Romney told supporters at an outdoor rally today in the Washington suburb of Fairfax that the unrest abroad demonstrates the need for a stronger U.S. posture in both economic and security issues.
As we watch the world today, sometimes it seems that we are at the mercy of events instead of shaping events, he said. Romney attacked Obama on foreign policy indirectly today, rather than criticizing him by name as he did yesterday.
He isn't giving up on this issue.

(8,224 posts)Bush tried "control". It did not work well. You are never in control of events, belief in the illusion of control is a form of mental defect.

(8,515 posts)Tell us Mitt, how would you shape events in the middle east?
I know, just throw the first fucking punch any time you see a
problem developing. Just use Iraq as the template and see how
fast you can plunge our country into the next world war!
