Older white voters--a must-get demographic for Trump--are running from him at a breakneck pace

Older white voters—a must-get demographic for Trump—are running from him at a breakneck pace

"SNIP......

Older white Americans over the age of 65 proved to be some of the most decisive voters in 2016. As demographer William Frey wrote in a post-election analysis: "Whites, especially older whites, were responsible for reversing past Democratic expansion in the Sun Belt states of Florida and North Carolina, as well as for capturing previously Democratic leaning northern states: Iowa, Michigan  Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.”

But according to recent Civiqs data, which tends to be less reactive to current events than many polls, support for Donald Trump among that bloc of 65-plus white voters is eroding in real time, due to Trump’s abysmal handling of the coronavirus response. It probably doesn’t hurt that Trump and other Republicans have been pushing the notion that getting the economy back on track is far more important than saving the lives of older Americans.

I never have and never will vote for Dolt45, and even in the 80s when I first heard of him I thought him to be an obnoxious ass hat.

plenty of old folk in the GOP inner circles.

Are they volunteering, or something? Or is it 'Oh no, not us old white folk, them out there should go first!' ??

But yeah, the threat of possible imminent death should clear the heads of some GOP voters.

The Democrats should prepare a graphic showing a check being cut by a 1/3rd. That is what happens once the Trust Fund is depleted under current law. SS Trust Fund will fail to collect about $1T a year (that is about the spend amount). Of course all the money will either have to be printed, borrowed, cut from other programs, or taxed to cover SS cashing in the Treasuries.

Also a similar graphic for Medicare. I am not sure how the law reads for underfunding, but the money has to come from someplace.

The ads pretty much write themselves. In one, Harry and Louise would be wearing masks, still shut-ins, reminiscing about how much they miss hugging their little grandkids, "now that Trump bungled the C-19 response so badly."

In another ad, Harry would be sitting in his La-Z-Boy, watching Trump on tv while commenting to Louise, "He just lies all the time, honey, it just isn't presidential!" And in the final ad, Louise would be at the funeral home, tearfully looking at Harry in his casket, dead from COVID-19 after Trump reopened the economy too soon, wistfully lamenting, "Harry, we should have voted for Hillary! She was right about healthcare all along."

They could talk about how good times were under Obama and how they wish they could go back to those days. Biden would be the best one to lead the way.
