In a livestream Tuesday, right-wing activist Ed Martin acknowledged that some people probably ingested disinfectants after last weeks White House press conference in which President Donald Trump suggested doing so might combat the coronavirus. Yet, rather than blame the president for comments that alarmed public health officials and led to increased calls about disinfectant usage to poison control centers, Martin blamed the media.
The acknowledgment came amid Martins latest rant against the fake news media in which he argued that news outlets like CNN, Politico, Wall Street Journal, and even Fox News are hurting people and pushing left-wing talking points to expand government control. The rant followed comments he made Friday calling fake news journalists treasonous.
Martin then said the media was dangerous for reporting on Trumps musings about injecting disinfectant. The fake news is just killing us in this country, he said.
I want to explain to you this isnt a fake news is bad thing; this is a fake news is actually hurting people. And theres one level to hurting people when they say the president said you should ingest disinfectant, and therefore, some people tried it. Thats probably true, Martin acknowledged. But its not (that) the president said that; its the coverage of what the president said that makes people crazy.

These QAnon, John Guandolo, Matt Shea, Ed Martin types... this isn't being really conservative, this is being a fanatic. You can't compromise with them. You can't bargain with them. You can only get them out of the way.

(90,789 posts)2. It's not the torture. It's the cameras.
Rumsfeld, in case anyone forgot. When Abu Ghraib was exposed, he took issue with the cameras that showed photo proof. So he banned cameras for soldiers.

"Digital cameras, camcorders and mobile phones with cameras have been prohibited in military compounds in Iraq," it said.
A "total ban throughout the US military" is in the works, it added.
Disturbing new photos of Iraqi prisoner abuse, which the US government had reportedly tried to keep hidden, were published on Friday in the Washington Post newspaper.

It's not that Trump said it. It's that it was reported.
