dead at 48,000. It especially must have been insulting to our veterans here. which was the exact opposite of my intentions. That figure was stuck in my head but it obviously didn't include ten thousand non-combat casualties. It was a stupid post and I should have double-checked my facts and I deeply apologize if it offended anyone, and I especially apologize to our DU veterans.

(16,616 posts)The figure I find is: 1,353,000 people total. An enormous amount of death in that war.
It includes 627,000 civilians too (that we know of).

(57,204 posts)to truly be able to quantify the numbers killed by coranavirus and the bad policy of another American President - one this time unable to understand the depth of his what he is doing or done - either. The scars from it will be around for years and never completely heal.
I don't think you were trivializing the needless waste of what my Viet Namese friends call the American war. Sometimes we vets land on someone with both boots.
Don't be too hard on yourself. We're in this together and the protocol sometimes is not too clear.

(I thought it was going to be "forgotten", just like my history teacher in high school told me that we "didn't have time" to study the Vietnam War).
