"We live in uncertain times."

I am sick to fucking death of this phrase. We've been hearing it for over 20 years now. Ever since 9/11 we've been hearing this phrase, and it needs to go. I am tired of living in uncertain times. We've had to deal with fires, floods, earthquakes, terrorist attacks, economic disasters, and now the worst pandemic since 1918.

The fact of the matter is that the GOP brought this on. 40 years of talking points and one-sided policy making has brought us here. As I've said before, they screamed and cried and whined like spoiled children when Obama served his two terms and did exactly what he was supposed to do. Now we're stuck with a petulant man child whose only goal was to undo what the previous administration did, and he watches TV for 12 hours a day and screams and cries when he's not praised enough.

We used to live in certain times. Then Trump came. And now we have COVID-19 to deal with. Now we don't know if those certain times will ever return when / if this virus goes. The sad thing is the lack of a real leader and unified country is going to keep this going on longer than it needs to be.

Eventually the waters will settle down. But we need a leader who will do his job and not watch TV for 12 hours a day, and let his favorite TV show do his thinking for him. We need for there to be an adequate supply chain. We need to be able to travel freely. We need to be able to have jobs that pay enough that, if the worst happens like it is now, that we can safely take cover. We need environmental and economical protection from the worst this planet has to offer.

We need bland and boring. It's time for the uncertain times to go. Our next president needs to be the opposite of Donald Trump and lead us into a new era of post-Corona prosperity. We need to replace the uncertain times with something that works for everybody and get us out of this mess. This crisis has torn apart many of the beliefs about society that we hold right now, and many of us are burnt out from it. But it has also shown that we can build anew, and that's what we must do going forward.

When the dust has been settled from this, I want to be able to say that we will be living in certain times again.

Being a rational person, it's hard not to see that as the explanation for what we are currently experiencing. Higher infections and fatalities in poor communities -- which just happen to have people of color at higher percentages who just happen to be Democrats in higher percentages.

I'm struggling to come up with a better explanation. Anyone got one (and no, I don't accept that they're just stupid -- they've successfully connived every frigging thing they could from poorer people for the past 45-plus years, including now, their lives. So you'll have to do better than that).
