Big News In Illinois

Governor extended stay at home to May 30. Some phased reopening.
Not good enough for some news craving downstate R legislator.
Took the extension to court and downstate judge says governor doesn't have the authority to extend the emergency period.
IL AG working on response & a stay of lower court ruling.
No link yet from any of our news sources.
It came up as the ruling was released on Governor's daily briefing, about 25 minutes ago.
This is not a good thing!

If not by dinner time. I presume this is in state court?

The initial order, if recollection serves, runs till May first anyway.

And I'm agreeing a less partisan judge will be found.
The rep & the judge are both radicals.

Some enterprising prosecutor ought to file charges of attempted murder, based on depraved indifference to the likelihood death will result from the action, against some of these shit-heels, who actually are stepping into court to kill some people. Probably wouldn't stand up, mind, more's the pity, but the head-lines would be rum fun....

It is getting hard to see how any Republican seat anywhere is safe this year, the way things are going.

To venture out. I’m in Chicago and I’m staying

Likely a higher court stay pretty fast.
I do fear, however, that once one gets to the edges of the collar counties, people are tending to think the lower density makes us immune.
They hear this suit ruling, they'll ignore anything that comes after.

Courts are 75% shut down. Teleconferencing, depositions by phone, no jury trials, and this idiot uses valuable court resources to file a suit blocking stay-at-home that affects ONLY him.
So, another 3 million like-minded drones now swamp the stressed court system?
Guy is a grandstanding fool!
The judge is a piece of work, too. Elected judge looking for PR in red sector Illinois.
