Our city's bus service has opened up a new line.

Our state has a 10 cent/bottle deposit on many drink containers. In March, the state told grocery stores that they don’t have to accept bottle returns until this pandemic is over. That left two sites in the metro area where people could return bottles. So many folks (homeless especially) rely on the $ for returning bottles.

This month the bottle return co-op that coordinates the implementation of the state’s bottle bill opened one additional emergency site in the metro area to return bottles. Lines are still incredibly long.

The new site is in an industrial area several miles from downtown. The bus agency just opened a free line to that spot and allows riders to bring large bags onboard.

Our governor requested the new line and the bus agency obliged.
