50,000 Deaths. . . .

LBJ and Tricky Dick Nixon were in charge during the Vietnam War in which we lost approximately 58,220 Americans in 10 years (March 1965-April 1975). . . Through Pussy-Grabber's narcissism, incompetence, ignorance, stupidity, and absolute lack of ANY empathy, whatsoever, we are at or above 50,000 deaths in roughly 5 weeks. I was no fan of LBJ and despised Nixon, but in comparison to what we have now, I would take either one of them in one second.

I think a good number of people on DU are about my age, as my entire youth was affected by the carnage in Vietnam: both American and Vietnamese.

WTF is this going to do to people? We have the worst POSSIBLE person in charge. I simply cannot THINK of anybody else who would be worse, honestly. Hell, my DOG would do a better job than Pussy-Grabber, as AT LEAST she could have smart peole make decisions for her. Pussy-Grabber won't allow that, and Pussy-Grabber has nothing but fools, charlatans and ass-kissers around him. . .

I am at work and have tons of shit to do, but I am sitting here, stunned, in front of my computer screen. 50,000 unnecessary American deaths. . . . Jesus Christ. And I have friends calling me from Europe asking what the FUCK is going on in this country? I cannot even answer that question.

they are starting to really explode in smaller metropolitan areas. Look at rural places with some of these meat packing plants with huge numbers of infected employees. . . . . I haven't committed all of them to memory, but just off the top of my head, I believe I remember something along the line of 650 infected employees in a plant in South Dakota and another in Iowa? Also, Arkansas just had a giant outbreak in their state prison system with 600+ infected inmates. Remember that for each person infected, they generally infect 2 more people. . .It is exponential. . . Also, they are finding that there were a lot of deaths that were not initially attributed to Covid19, so this will add to totals. . . I am wondering what kind of rolling disaster we'll see out of Florida & Georgia. This is not going to end well.

One case leads to ~3 to ~4 cases and those 3 or 4 each lead to 3 or 4 more and so on.

case one leads to 2, 3, 4= 4 to 5 cases

case 2 +3, 3+3, 4+3, 5+3=9 +4, 12 + 5=17
and so on...

Forgive my sloppy math, but do you get the idea?

we are likely to see deaths in the million range.

I have an answer for that question. This country is being run by one of the most incompetent businessmen that particular field has ever produced, kept going only by an inherited fortune he kept using to leverage debt, sweet talking money out of people who definitely should have known better.

As businessmen, they see profit/loss and nothing else. Supporting the people in this country through a disaster is a loss on their ledger sheets. Money to big corporations to make up for lost sales is money better spent, in their narrow vision.

In addition to the businessman's myopia, his staff has another characteristic, sheer ignorance of everything they have been tasked with managing. They have been chosen for their ability to flatter Dumpster Fire adequately, not for their ability to do any of the jobs they're "acting" at doing.

Because of Putin's interference ad Comey's treachery, this asshole was installed against the will of the people, who knew better by a nearly 3 million vote margin.

That's why.

in Vietnam (our "advisors" there) in early 60's and thinking it was sad, but surely a temporary thing. But my entire adult life has been influenced and affected by that disaster, as have so many others.

I have no idea how we, as a society, will be coping with this new horror. But I do know that, just like in the aftermath of Vietnam, we can, and we will.
