In 1920, denim overalls were a symbol of protest

These days, jeans are part and parcel of just about anyone’s wardrobe.

But 100 years ago, denim overalls, as they were called then, were a symbol of protest.

In April 1920, Overalls Clubs sprung up across the nation.

Reading didn’t have an Overalls Club, but a few college students put on overalls and joined the protest.
