War or a military action abroad. Historically, war, or some type of military conflict, has always been used to rally support because by convention and custom, the American people want to seem to united behind our military fighting abroad.
Would I put it past Trump to launch some sort of action abroad in order to boost his election chances? No, I do not. Republicans rely on customs and traditions to advance their extremist agenda.

Winning would be easy. Governing would be another mess.

(12,712 posts)That is possible even without General Trump starting something as a diversion. I recall he tweeted something about an Iranian threat to our troops, but it sank fast. He test markets like a rabbit in heat and he has a lot of factors to twist and distort right now, so give him time.
If you thought El Presidente was terrible in a pandemic, (as per willful neglect of duty) imagine him in a nuclear war. He and his family could go to the Presidential bunker and just let Putin wipe us out, if he is feeling contemptuous enough about our not liking him and treating him right.
I mean in less than the thirty minutes we would have:
"We are not sure they are missals. They are a democrat hoax. Oh, they are missals, but we are not sure who sent them. Wait, they are nuclear missals from Russia, it's bad, but I let me call my pal Putin and do some quick quid quo pro! Well, it's not as many missals as we thought. Well, I am out of here. Goodbye you nasty people and you didn't treat me right anyway and me and my family will be back to claim what's left in the new, Trump Dynasty." [LONG TONE]...the Star Spangled Banner plays. BOOM! POOF!

Obviously I don't know, but I'm pretty sure he could not start a war of convenience.

(15,650 posts)last resort. There is also some risk in him doing something that the military may not go along with. But he will try to use it in desperation if necessary to save his ass I have no doubt.

(53,410 posts)Traditionally weve fought these wars like a chess game with Russia. We secretly arm the victims of Russian aggression and vice versa.
All the wars from Vietnam Nam forward have been like that.
