New poll, 60 percent support keeping stay-at-home restrictions to fight coronavirus

Trump is toast

WASHINGTON - Nearly 60 percent of American voters say they are more concerned that a relaxation of stay-at-home restrictions would lead to more COVID-19 deaths than they are that those restrictions will hurt the U.S. economy, according to a new national NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

But while strong majorities of Democrats and independents are more worried about the coronavirus than the economy, Republicans are divided on the question, with almost half of them more concerned about how the restrictions could affect the economy.

In the poll, 58 percent of registered voters say that what worries them more is that the United States will move too quickly in loosening stay-at-home restrictions, resulting in the coronavirus spreading and more lives being lost.

keeping stay-at-home restrictions. The media isn't helping here with their coverage stating more and more Americans are becoming frustrated with stay-at-home restrictions. They are simply fueling a fire by saying Americans are frustrated. The truth is Americans (mainly right wing nut jobs) are being manipulated by a President desperate to be re-elected and the far right deep pockets that support him.

And I'm a hardcore MSNBC addict, but I find myself watching them less & less each day that goes by, and looking into other viewing options. Perhaps that may continue after this is eventually over, and I continue not watching them.

They make their choice airing his news conferences, and it's my choice not to watch. I'm tired of watching the same train wreck each and every day.

SIXTY PERCENT!!!

What is 100 minus 60?

It's clearly Us against Them. The 60% of Sane individuals, against that 40% Block of MORANS.

The key is getting that 10% of Sane that gives us a majority over 50%, and have it in those states where it's perhaps less than 10% and are also battleground states.

40%....there they are again.

all you get is assent to sounds and not content.

Is it an important restriction to keep social distancing but allow take-out food from restaurants? How about other businesses?

Lockdown in some states closed restaurants. In some it allowed take-away. In others, people stay in their cars.

In some states certain businesses closed in other states are still open. Texas was chewed out for allowing, in week or two, what Virginia's allowed straight along.

I had my car worked on. Masks in evidence on most people. Shields up. Spaces marked. Now imagine that in a restaurant. Would that be no social distancing?

A lot of people want lockdown until there's zero risk of infection. That'll take a long, long time.

Maybe these people who want the restrictions lifted are legitimately worried about being able to provide for their families, they don't want to lose their homes, and they're worried about permanently losing their small business that they've invested their life into? They're protesting because they're hurting right now, not because they just want to stir up shit.

Obviously there are a TON of people hurting right now. The point is to make sure the virus crisis peak doesn't last longer than it has to, and also that it doesn't return, perhaps worse than what we're currently going through.

Nobody is imposing these restrictions with the intention of hurting people. It's the exact opposite actually.

Trump Org revenues are down $690,000 per day. His cash flow may be zero considering he has mortgages to pay. Trump has a huge conflict of interest here.

An early opening will lead to more business failures. As most are not gonna be comfortable coming out of their holes.
