Anti-progressive conservatives push the idea that the poor are undeserving and make themselves ill, but many people in middle and retirement years who worked and did well for years have been driven into poverty by a combination of long-term ill health and uncovered medical bills. And others are developing in their 30s and 40s what will become serious medical conditions if inadequately treated, just as their incomes are rising to enable the American dream.

And of course even healthy retirees are worthless sponges. We've heard too much of that.

And along comes COVID to rescue deserving wealthy conservatives from having to pay into our national retirement fund and safety net programs, at least to whatever degree their delays in containment and ability to limit treatment manage.
