Billionaire Trump Donor, Personal Friend Dies Of COVID
April 12, 2020 Coronavirus, Donald Trump
Politico reports:
Trump had spoken at recent White House briefings about a friend who had fallen ill with the virus, which has killed more than 20,600 Americans as of midday Sunday, according to Johns Hopkins University. I had a friend who went to a hospital the other day. Hes a little older, and hes heavy, but hes tough person, Trump said. And he went to the hospital, and a day later, hes in a coma, hes not doing well.
Chera had a reported net worth of $4 billion.

(24,370 posts)I've been reading (OK, "listening", because audio books are easier when I spend most of my time driving) a lot of the books to come out on his Trumpness, and one theme seems to ring out through all of them;
He doesn't have any "real friends" at all.
Not one.
Certainly not in any traditional sense of the word that you and I or any sane person would recognize. All of the long time hangers on have only done so because they are just as large pieces of shit as he is. Witness Stone, Cohen, Epstein et al.
His entire perspective on life is transactional. Everything for him is a competition, and most sane people don't look at personal interaction that way. If you don't give him something, he won't like you. At all. Unless you impress him on a scale or in a sleeve that he envies and could never attain, like Putin or Duterte or Erdoğan, for example.

(6,148 posts)He could have been a good person. He could have been a good corporate citizen. He could have been a major philanthropist.
He could have suffered. He could have been in unbearable pain. He could have died alone, and lonely.
All I feel is negativity. A sick kind of happiness.
So, now we see - this disease can kill the rich and the poor.
I hope Chera had many parties and shook many hands.
I have no heart.
A HERETIC I AM
(24,370 posts)it's just very likely you just have more empathy than the deceased, and most certainly more than Trumpy.

(2,035 posts)This reminds me of watching Mark Zuckerberg losing his only friend Eduardo by screwing him over in The Social Network, except I felt a little bit of sympathy for Zuckerberg and I feel no sympathy for Trump. Way to go, Trump. You killed John Prine. You have killed over 25,000 other Americans and counting. And now you have killed your friend. That is, if he was ever really your friend, as someone else pointed out.

(7,541 posts)I didn't know him so this does not make me sad in any way...thousands of people die every day on the planet. He did not make the world a better place by by his presence so I will not miss him.

(15,540 posts)and the idiot's reaction was why on earth would he even utter the words "He's a little older and he's heavy"? Who the f*** says something like that if a so-called "friend" dies?

(100,079 posts)Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Kid Rock are cronies. Chera and other billionaires are donors. And to Trump, both groups are expendable.

(9,999 posts)this would not happen to him. This wasn't a friend, this was a peer and this isn't supposed to happen to rich guys. Trump had a moment of looking in the mirror.
llmart
(15,540 posts)He has to be able to tell himself that it won't happen to him because he's not that old and he's not that fat.
He's such a narcissist that when he looks in the mirror he probably sees George Clooney looking back at him.

(63,221 posts)Even younger and middle aged people are dying from this. And all this guy's money couldn't save him from dying. Trump can't buy his way out of this one.

(15,540 posts)a malignant narcissist thinks they will live forever because they think the world can't live without all their "greatness".

If you erased all of his tweets that were fear based, there would be only a few left.

(21,646 posts)Chera's Crown Acquisitions inked a deal in 2008 with now-Trump son-in-law and White House senior adviser Jared Kushner's firm The Kushner Companies and private equity firm The Carlyle Group. Crown Acquisitions and Carlyle Group took a stake in the retail portion of the building at 666 Fifth Avenue in New York City, which was owned by Kushner Companies. The Fifth Avenue skyscraper ended up being a troubled property that weighed down The Kushner Companies' portfolio for years until the building sold to Brookfield Properties in 2018.
Chera introduced Trump at the New York City Veteran's Day Parade last November, calling the president "my dear friend."
Trump called out Chera at a 2019 rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, describing him as "one of the biggest builders and real estate people in the world."
"And he's a great guy and he's been with me from the beginning," Trump said of Chera.
