(82,849 posts)I usually do things to piss them off, like ask them to repeat their name, make fun of the name, demand to speak to their supervisor, and so forth. Lately, though, I just say, "There's a global pandemic ravaging the population, and all you can think of to do is call people to rip them off. What kind of a person are you?"

(34,137 posts)They sound like real people but if I don't give an expected response, I can hear the recording (or computer program) scramble and start at a place that has nothing to do with what I said.
It's a failed Turin experiment as far as I am concerned, so I keep them on for a few minutes until it switches me out - either to a live person or off their line.
