mild symptoms. He is positive but completely asymptomatic. Hes been with his family of 5 for ten days. No symptoms. His mom is awaiting her test results.
Bottom line: we need to test test test and gather much information in the process. Its the only way we can beat this virus.

The severity of a case can be related to the sheer amount of virus, the "viral load" that a person has taken in. So the idea is to reduce exposure to the virus as much as possible.

(14,856 posts)Me and my brother foolishly didnt wear masks while cleaning the vomit bucket for our very elderly and weak mother, who had contracted the stomach flu while talking to a man in a hospital waiting room who described his recent recovery from it.
She apparently got a small initial load, whereas me and my brother had large initial loads. (We were more focused on sterilizing the bucket and repeatedly washing our hands.)
We got FAR sicker than our mother from it, and she was old with a bunch of health problems.

(2,344 posts)That you were exposed to someone that has it or had it. Doesnt appear to need verification of the contact. However there is a general feeling that the tests should be reserved for the people most needing the tests.
