Some not-so-good news first: Mitch just announced that he had his best fundraising quarter ever (as in, since the 1980s!)a sign he and his allies are taking this fight very, very seriously.
Now, some great news: This grassroots team did even better. We outraised Mitch by over $5 millionfor a total of $12.8 million in the first quarter of 2020. The most impressive part? Our average donation is just $37.
These numbers show, beyond a doubt, that voters are fed up with Mitch McConnell continually putting corporate handouts ahead of working people. People are outraged that he delayed COVID-19 relief funding for 48 hours so that his buddies in Big Pharma could price gouge us on vaccines.
And keep this in mind: This team outraised Mitch while also stepping up to support those most threatened by the current crisis, both through volunteering and supporting our food bank relief efforts. (If you want to make a donation to support the Commonwealth, Common Health Food Bank Relief Fund, you can chip in here.)
Its safe to say that Mitch has never faced a challenger like Amy beforethis grassroots team truly has him in the fight of his political life.
What you all are doing, in the face of unprecedented obstacles, is nothing short of extraordinary. Theres not a doubt in our minds that, if this team can come through at the moments that count most, we can win this. Youre showing we have what it takes.
More soonbut for now, we appreciate you beyond words.

(7,505 posts)I know not everyone can do that. But that is my plan, stimulate Democratic candidates.

(7,505 posts)Mine is a little fluid. at the moment. Joe of course Mark Kelley, Gretchen Driskell. I'm open to suggestions. OOps Jamie Harrison almost forgot him. Where else can we pick up senate seats?

(10,207 posts)I hope for Amy but would settle for flipping the senate.

(23,239 posts)They're targeting the most vulnerable and most reprehensible GOPher Senators--McConnell, Collins, Graham, Ernst, McSilly, Tillis, Loeffler, among others. Hoping this gets the $$ to the right places, and puts the maximum pressure on these losers.

Sara Gideon, Maine, is also a worthy recipient against Miz Concerned Susie Collins.

(6,011 posts)I'm from IL, so we're good in the Senate (Durbin and Duckworth).
I want other States to have nice things.
I hate McConnell.
needs to beat Moscow Mitch this bastard has to go.
Kentucky, you have a serious candidate in Amy McGrath. Make this a huge decisive victory. America is counting on you.

(54,399 posts)I sent Amy McGrath a highly unusual (for me, anyway) $1000 check months ago.
My disdain for McTurtle far surpasses any other uses I might have had for the money.

(54,399 posts)No contributions to any of the presidential candidates (that just changed yesterday), as most of them were Senators who hounded Al Franken publicly into resigning, and NONE of them get a cent from me. I just couldn't make up my mind among the rest, but when Amy Klobuchar and Mayor Pete dropped out, the choice got clearer.
I was a former contributor to some Senators who pushed Al into his resignation, but not this time. So, I had more of the budget to spread around. Long shots like McGrath in Kentucky, Jaime Harrison in South Carolina, and Wendy Davis for the House in Texas benefited, as well as a couple of personal friends running for Congress (Mark Kelly for Senate in AZ and Valerie Plame for the House in NM). The usual Planned Parenthood, Doctors Without Borders, NARAL, NRDC, etc. all got some as well. I'm usually sucking wind financially by the end of any election year! But it's all fine. Besides, one of my daughters now makes three times as much as I do. I can always hit her up if I'm desperate!

(28,125 posts)Btw, Gov. Beshear (D) KY has a 89% approval for his corona handling. Kentucky is turning...dare I say it?... Blue.
DFW
(54,399 posts)But it will take more than this crisis to turn the state legislature. Still, the longest journey starts with a single step. Booting out Moscow Mitch would be cause for grand celebration. It's still uphill, but if Amy manages to pull this off, I want to feel that I played a small part in it, and was there when I had the chance to be.
You would have played a part! Me? A much smaller one, but still a part.

(6,092 posts)a society that spends such an obscene amount of money on campaigns. People suffer, starve, cant get medical care across this country and we still structure elections like this. It makes me wonder and fear for our humanity! It makes me sick!
