This is what you tell all of the "Hey people die from the flu every year, this isn't bad" folks

Yes people die from the flu every year.
Thousands do.
AND WE HAVE VACCINES FOR THE FLU!!!!!!!
The flu is bad and we have tools to fight it
That's why you get a flu shot.
Imagine the worst flu ever and there being no vaccine for it.
That's where we are now.
Then you tell them to take the apples and oranges they are trying to compare and shove them up their ass where their brains are.

I’m ashamed of myself for not getting a flu shot every year. For some reason I never got the herd immunity memo (Trumpsters are not the only ignorant ones). I got a flu shot in the fall and will do it every year. Worried that I’ve killed people with my stupidity by not getting a shot every year.

To your point, though, this is a thousand times worse!!

Dead.

Dead is too late to start.

I hope you will start getting your regularly scheduled immunizations. There's a lot of misinformation out there, promulgated by trolls and the misguided alike. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about vaccines, especially the flu vaccine. That's the one I have to arm-wrestle my patients best two-out-of-three to get them to take.

(BTW, I'm sorry. I forgot to mention that I'm a Physician Assistant in primary care clinical practice.)

I actually listened to medical people last year and got a flu shot. I’ll do it every year.

Keep telling people. You will get through, as people eventually got through to me

Contrary to what Trump thinks, flu vaccines don't do jack shit against Trump Lung.

We're gonna have to wait, probably at least 18 mo, more likely a few years after that, before they figure out how to make a COVID-19 vaccine that works.

If you get influenza, it can compromise your immune system enough that if you get exposed to COVID-19 while acutely ill with the flu, you could have a rough time of it.

It doesn't just work on Trump Lung. I'm sure it's slowing or blocking all sorts of flu strains and common cold viruses.

What, we should wrestle them to the ground and say, "No, you don't have say over your body"?

They endanger themselves, that's their business.

We endanger people each day by the choices we make--how we drive, what vaccinations we get. And we obligate others to pay for us by the lifestyle choices we make, where we build, etc.

By not getting a flu shot I spread the germs which could have killed more vulnerable people. It is not ok that I was letting old and weak get sick and die. Not referring to letting assholes die who refuse to vaccinate

Just to illustrate:

Increasing the contagiousness (measured by R0 by epidemiologists), coupled with the novel nature of this bug (nobody's immune!) means it can really spread like wildfire in a way we haven't seen most flus do.

That, and people infected with Trump Lung can be unwitting, asymptomatic carriers for a loooooooong time. It's the gift that keeps on giving!

And this is before we get around to the increased lethality of Captain Trumps, when compared with garden-variety influenza.

Don't earn a Darwin Award (or at least an honorable mention) like Boris Johnson...

You try to break this deadly cycle by vaccinating against both flu and pneumonia
