India , Hydroxychloroquine and Don the Con - India banned its export today

NEW DELHI: The government on Saturday imposed a blanket ban on the export anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine and its formulations, days after it culled out exceptions for some categories.

“The export of hydroxychloroquine and formulations made from hydroxychloroquine, therefore, shall remain prohibited, without any exception,” the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification.

DGFT had on March 25, allowed on humanitarian grounds on a case-to-case basis ..

The Con was in India in the middle of the Covid-19 spread (the rally was on Feb24) and he has been promoting this drug ad nauseum. A while ago the Con mentioned that he spoke to Modi. Remember now India needs this drug for malaria but I have a suspicion that men are making money here.

It's a generic drug that lots of companies make (including production in the U.S.). It's quite cheap.

Two manufacturers have already committed to donating tens of millions of doses. It's awfully hard to profit personally in that environment.

Many US resellers buy it from India and sell it under their own name.
