The red states cannot survive without blue state support.

It's also why they lost the civil war.

The industrial base and population is too small to self sustain for long.

Even Florida is heavily dependent on the north for tourism and agricultural outlets.

That would in a more normal time be a description for a story with a character like Trump. Know this, there is no conspiracy that is too ridiculous and patently absurd for Trump to go with.

His advisers would also fit with this. His children, in-laws, friends and followers also ready to jump on board the ridiculous and patently absurd train. Considering how the Republicans in office have circled their wagons, they too are ready to go with a ridiculous and patently absurd conspiracy. Listen to Fox News for five minutes. Ridiculous and patently absurd.

It is worth being careful and watching for some glimmer of reason and evil planning with logic. But expecting it from Trump would be, ridiculous and patently absurd.

The original post would be crazy in normal times. My bet would be the OP is right.

Sat Apr 4, 2020, 05:59 PM
Apr 2020

that explicitly prevents people from filling claims, is going to hurt republicans at every level. That scheme worked when only a few hundred thousand were applying, but with millions in the state now unemployed, not so much. DeSantis will likely try to overcome that to save his ass, but with the main electronic system configured by Scott to harm unemployed workers, hus only option is to start accepting paper applications, a long abandoned system that he would have to ramp up from scratch to handle millions of filers.

it won't. Many red states have gotten it harder than they think because they took too long to go on lockdown. Blue states did it early. It's running rampant through Florida, Louisiana, and Arkansas. Several rural red states still don't have lockdowns.

I just read an Atlantic article saying the South is more vulnerable than they believe due to high cholesterol and heart disease and too many uninsured. The South and red states have people in worse health to begin with, putting many of them at higher risk if they also catch COVID.

To him, all that stuff is inventory, to be used to leverage business deals. He doesn't understand that a strategic stockpile was paid for by taxpayers and is to be distributed according to need in time of crisis. To him, that just doesn't compute. He has no clue about the function of the commons, which this stuff is. He knows only privately held commodities to be bid on.

It's OUR STUFF, and his mindset prevents him from realizing it.

I just hope Democrats stop keeping their powder dry for once and fire away. He's killing people because he can't shake that rigid mindset. This needs to put to rest forever the notion that government should be run like a business.

He might ship some moldy old stuff to so called allies but he’ll never willingly give up the grift. No one is getting that fed supply without paying.

This will get very ugly when enough of the family and friends of the dead realize they died so trump and kushner could make a profit.

Even the concept that an El Presidente would withhold necessities or favor states is counter to our nation's unity and strength. This is the kind of Dear Leader that you could and would expect that from, however. The results are what are of interest since he test markets ideas to see how they fly on both sides.

I think we do know that everything that Trump does is about expanding, holding and maintaining power over this country, no matter what it takes. No matter what.

Trump is selling those supplies and keeping the money for himself.

The “red states” will vote for Trump no matter how badly he screws them over. But the thing is, I believe Trump’s advisors have notified him that the 2020 electoral map will look very much like the 2008 one (which means he will get stomped like one of the grapes on his son’s wine farm) and he’s going to spend the rest of his term embezzling from the government just as hard as he can.

The red states will be proud to pay Trump for the supplies they already paid for with their taxes. It will show they are “not beholden to Big Government.”

If US states won’t pay Trump what he wants for our supplies, no problem: he will simply sell that materiel to the highest foreign bidder.

My recommendation to the government: the second the election is called for Biden, confiscate his passport. The bastard will flee the country sometime between the election and Biden’s inauguration if he gets the chance.

like Florida to say that what he is doing is not ok. Maybe states that he will favor, like Arizona and Georgia follow suit.

He has been very brutal toward Lousiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Because those states had the temerity to elect or reelect democratic governors, even after he brought road-show rallies to them. So, he has it out for those states and he just can't help himself. He has, inexplicably hurt Ohio, where republicans there did everything that he wanted.
