... unless we get 3 times as many tested across the US than what we're doing now.
The testing rate should be per city
last column in this chart, string search ital and USA and you can see the difference in per 1 million testing.

On March 9th Pence said 5 million test would be distributed by the next week .. that would be March 16 ... we need courage among the press to keep on asking the Trump administration for testing at the level at least Italy is doing.
Also, with a high test rate when the cases bottom out we can keep it from spreading again.

(35,320 posts)Note that they know their numbers are wrong.
1. Not all private labs report test results. This means that the # of positives isn't necessarily right.
2. Of those that report test results, not all report negative results.
Either way, the # of tests is higher than reported in some states.
After about mid-March they did pull off about a million tests.
And Italy "has done" is more accurate than "is doing."
Getting state-level data is also well and good, but we know that in NYS the lion's share of resources have gone to where there's more hospitalizations, NYC and its 'burbs.
Rather than report on positives and deaths, it's probably better to keep track of hospitalizations. Sadly, nobody's reporting that data.

(90,347 posts)... and right now we can't because of the number of lies the Trump admin tells about testing and the lack of distribution per state.
We need to test test test ... I believe the WHO more right now than our own government.
