Yale: danger of domestic travel has exceeded the danger of international travel since early/mid Marc

https://www.courant.com/coronavirus/hc-news-coronavirus-connecticut-outbreak-washington-20200404-ehenfigfhvcwhi4b4jrsocy7va-story.html

A new study by researchers at the Yale School of Public Health shows that the vast majority of Connecticut’s first coronavirus cases have roots in Washington state, and that the danger of domestic travel has exceeded the danger of international travel since early- or mid-March.

The study also points to a need for local responses to the virus, as opposed to international travel bans or restrictions. While officials were focused on monitoring international travel, the study suggests it was actually domestic travel that brought the virus to the state.

Emphasis has been on containment, and it looks like Washington state has done a pretty good job of that. After it's all over, the blame game will take center stage, I'm sure.

Connecticut samples of SARS-CoV-2 (light blue) are closely associated with virus samples collected in Washington state (dark purple) indicating that transcontinental spread of the virus was occurring by mid-March.
