Even Cuomo's people are impressive...

Watching his daily press conferences, I'm always impressed by the people on the dais with him, state health commissioner, etc. The woman who usually sits next to him, Melissa DeRosa, his chief of staff, occasionally jumps in with facts and figures or says, "We'll take care of that." She knows her stuff.

Compare that to, er, Jared Kushner.

2. I was thinking the same at this mornings presser -

One of the reporters was pressing for information by county and age, etc. and he got good answers from three people - Cuomo checked with his people and said they could get that info for him and explained why they are currently analyzing information by hospital rather than by county. The woman you’re mentioning jumped in to explain that the state is setting up a website that will have that information, updating each morning. Cuomo stayed calm while explaining his gratitude for the about 4000 ventilators they have / will shortly be getting when the original order was for 17,000. You fight the war with the army and equipment you’ve got, not what wish you had. The other night Cuomo was on Lawrence O’Donnell’s show and Lawrence spent almost two minutes praising Cuomo as a consummate professional service-through-governing exemplar. Cuomo was touched - he said it meant a lot to him coming from Lawrence who had worked with his Dad when Lawrence was on Moynihan’s staff.
