New World.
Stocked up pretty well. I got what I needed. Ptobably half in masks. I don't have a mask but i wear dusposable gloves.
Plastic shield between customers and checkers.
It was still an ordeal. I couldn't get the self check out to work. I just dumped everything back in the basket and went to the regular checkout.
All set for another week.

(7,633 posts)My store too has installed plexiglass between cashiers and customers. My wife has made a bunch of masks and I found a couple boxes of nitrile gloves in my shop.
I go do the shopping suite up with gloves and masks.
Last week some of the young cashiers thought I was being paranoid and were rolling their eyes.. a couple of days ago wallmart announced that one of the employees at that store tested positive.

(65,076 posts)The smaller indy grocer near the house, no. They've got a sheet printed out on front door, apologizing for not having them yet.
They ordered them. They didn't show up. Intend to install as soon as they get them
I'm seeing a lower % of masks on both customers & staff than reported here. Probably more like 1 in 6.

(7,820 posts)Went this morning. Early. Was gonna yesterday, but drove by around 2:30 and there was a decent sized line of people outside waiting to be let in. Theyve started limiting how many can go in at once so people can spread out more. Also have the plexiglass and 6 foot markers set up at the checkout lines. Glad theyre doing what they can.

(46,122 posts)Short of screening each and every customers, here's what has been done in my store:
1. Sanitizing the handles of the carts
2. Hand sanitizer for customers
3. We wear masks
4. Customers wear masks
5. Plexi-glass at register
6. We wear latex gloves that are changed every time we touch currency
7. We enforce six feet distance between customers and other customers as well as ourselves
8. We sanitize the pin-pads of the credit card machines as well as the stylus pens every hour
9. We wipe down the belts on a regular basis

(2,221 posts)I found gloves at GFS (Gordon Food Supply) and those disposable masks online at First-Aid-Products.com. Now if I could just get my hands on 70% alcohol and Clorox wipes... (Im in the Central Ohio area)

(10,885 posts)First-Aid-Products.com? I've already been scammed by ordering from a company named Modern Beyond - a typical "bait and switch - and am leery now of these seemingly-legit onlines. Am currently disputing the credit card charge, but it's becoming a hassle, and I don't want to have to repeat the process.
TIA for any additional information.
ETA: I just delved further into their items and find (SURPRISE!!!) they're all out of stock anyway, but if they're legit, I'll keep them in mind for the future.

(2,221 posts)I did go online to try to research the company before ordering. Checked the BBB also. They seem legit. Used a credit card instead of my debit card in case I have trouble with the order. Figured it would be easier to resolve. Ill update when I receive the order.

(2,221 posts)It took a couple of weeks but the masks were delivered today! Had 3 or 4 from a couple of years ago when my husband had the flu. The masks I got today are pretty much of comparable quality. Maybe a tiny bit thinner but not much. I usually fold up a paper towel to layer in for a bit of extra protection, too. I also made a wish list of (out of stock) items Id like to order from this company and check back daily to see if any of those items are in stock. Lo and behold on this past Friday, the 99% isopropyl alcohol was in stock so I jumped on that and ordered some bottles. Still cant find any in the stores. Got an email Saturday morning that it was ready for shipping. I was surprised that it was that fast. Its out of stock again I think, but if you keep checking you might find it -and same with the masks. Their site said they receive stock daily so you never know. Hope this helps! At least we know its a legit business!

(65,076 posts)Checked drug store yesterday when picking up Rx. Checked grocery store today when I went to get juice.
They had TP though.
No wipes, no IPA.
IPA shipments to the big site from which I retired are unaffected.
That's 99+%, but the bottles are actually made by blending in line, continuously. Don't grasp the delay in refilling the supply chain.

(18,402 posts)I can't wear latex gloves, or even bandaids. Break out in a contact rash within minutes. It's not at all uncommon among the population, so I was wondering if non-latex alternatives were available.

They may wake up when some of their older employees begin to die off, but not before.

(3,981 posts)Even the toilet paper was well-stocked.
Biggest problem was the mask caused my glasses to fog up. Lesson learned; I will be putting in my contacts before going out with a mask on.

(42,568 posts)Unfortunately, I don't have contact lenses. My husband said anti-fog wipes might help. I found some on Amazon--haven't ordered them yet.

(9,267 posts)The next available slot was 9 days ahead, I grabbed it. They keep canceling things in my cart - paper towels, kitty litter, my favorite spaghetti sauce. But so far the vast majority of the order is supposedly available. Im scared to go in there.

(8,718 posts)Between the time I ordered and pickup, they were out of many items.
Limits of two on most pet food individual packets and cans, kombucha tea flavors, etc. I ordered organic fruits and vegetables and got about half. Now I know to order more than I need to get something. Everyone picking up curbside had a mask on - not so with the people walking into the store - maybe 5 to 10% had masks.
