advertising free delivery from now until this is over.
Wow. I hope more businesses follow suit.

(65,076 posts)We were watching Guy's triple D, so restaurant commercials were abundant.
There had to be at least 8 different national chains running delivery commercials. And I'm not counting pizza chains, where delivery has always been part of the model.
One notable twist (of course) was Chick-Fil-A. The delivery disclaimer on delivery was pretty big text, saying not available at all locations. Then the ad includes availability through normal partners like Uber Eats, et all. So, not only isn't that eliminating the free part, but people could have done that already.

(25,941 posts)Probably half of the steak house experience depends on the sizzle, which obviously cant be duplicated with home delivery. Perhaps some people like steak thats approaching room temperature, but I am not among them.

(65,076 posts)We have a joint (closed, no carryout) near our house. When we do get carryout, it's normally the pub burger or their Thai shrimp.
Don't think I'd get a steak for carryout.
That said, I did drive by a Texas Roadhouse that did have a sign reading carryout, 3 to 8 pm.
