My friends mom just died from COVID-19.

She's a close neighbor to me. Her mom didn't live with her here, but she lived in our county.

Damn, people. This feels really real. Another friend of my daughters lost her mom today, and I know of two more close people to me who've tested positive just today.

Please, be safe. Do that for me. Take all the precautions, even if it makes you look weird. Just live to laugh about it when all this is over, ok? Please?

These kinds of stories will become more commonplace, unfortunately. There’s still too much denial of reality.

We have been locked down for 3 weeks. I figure my odds of catching this are close to zero. I am sequestered at home.

Are these poor people who have to work?

She had been isolating but some visitor exposed her.

It’s not always because people aren’t careful where they go and what they do.

I have to work because I am considered essential. I work in a clinic. We take all the precautions we are allowed to and the patients are screened twice before they even get to me. Still, two workers from our clinic are now in the hospital on ventilators. I honestly feel like it's not if but when at this point. People don't mean to spread it but they do.

Two of our group of 5 gals were able to be with her so she didn't die alone. I talked with her for the last time yesterday late... I knew she was fading fast. Went through it with my husband in 2002. I'm glad she didn't suffer and didn't linger long.

My condolences.

Sure we were going to have some people getting sick here no matter what.

But this?

It's not like he can claim bankruptcy, and all the investors lose money while he walks away.

Trump is not going to ever walk away from this cluster.....

Be safe.

6 feet, and full time mask when out around others to protect all.

We need to stop this.

When someone dies, the family can't come together in sorrow and remembrance. It's a tough situation.

I'm afraid it's going to keep getting closer to each one of us.

There's no touch, no hugging and no shared grief while you hold them. Which makes this process so much harder for all of us.

or similar ones.

No one will be left untouched by this.

It is such an unmitigated disaster that I fear 500,000 dead in this country at a minimum when it's all said and done, and very likely more when one considers the tens of thousands that will die at home without ever getting tested or seeing a doctor.

This all is getting way too close to home. My sympathies to your friend.

My best friend’s mom passed away 2 days ago .... she was a nursing home resident .. they tested her for Covid-19 right away when she first got ill....she was in the hospital 13 days and died, and they still have not gotten the results of her test. It all seems so cruel and senseless.

...we basically have been self isolating except for his 2-3 days a week as a pharmacist and his quick trip to the grocer at 7 30 am..
..and I am getting pretty danged scared. Our county has 3 cases. Hubby is also a Hospital Commissioner and our small rural central Washington Hospital feels very prepared. But this is hitting close to home and age not a priority any longer.

He doesn't show any symptoms yet. He's been living in a VA hospital near nyc for almost 20 years. The doctors say that most of the men living there have tested positive. Hopefully he will be ok.
