Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson on Thursday complained to Fox News Sean Hannity that President Donald Trump is not receiving enough credit for his incredibly courageous handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
Carson, a member of Trumps coronavirus task force, cited the presidents February decision to stop foreign nationals who had recently visited China from entering the U.S. ― a talking point frequently invoked by Trump and his defenders to counter critics pointing out the presidents slow and chaotic response to the pandemic.
Trump and members of his administration have been fiercely criticized for downplaying the threat of the outbreak for weeks. Even now, after seeming to acknowledge the human toll and economic devastation caused by the pandemic, Trump has failed to recommend a nationwide lockdown to stop the spread of the virus.
Trump has also been slammed for calling the contagion the Chinese virus, and for attacking journalists and governors who question or criticize his response.

(14,492 posts)Carson and the others in tRump's administration really do believe he's doing a great job. I don't think they're consciously lying. They REALLY DO believe it. Once a man is brainwashed, he's an empty shell that parrots what he's told.
Robbed of their original selves, I see all GOP politicians as just empty shells with a talking parrot inside.
Let's all remember that what tRump's been doing all along fits perfectly in the Heritage Foundation's (and dozens of other think tanks) model for disassembling our government and handing over more assets and power to the ultra-wealthy. What he's doing in this virus crisis also fits well with their grand plan. All Carson and Trump have to do is simply stick to the script.
We, the decent people of America, simply cannot conceive of human beings thinking the way they think, although it's not really thinking. Parroting is a better word and what they're mindlessly saying originates from a cabal of people we never see.
Some folks in W's administration let the cat out of the bag as to how this really works.
