The UK might issue coronavirus 'immunity passports' so people can leave the lockdown early

The UK plans to roll out "immunity passports" to people who have already contracted COVID-19 to allow them to return to "normal life," the Health Secretary Matt Hancock said on Thursday.

"We are looking at an immunity certificate," Hancock said at a Downing Street press conference.

"People who have had the disease have got the antibodies and then have immunity can show that and therefore get back as much as possible to normal life."

He added: "That is something we will be doing and will look at, but it is too early in the science … to be able to put clarity around that."

"Too early in the science" is the key phrase here, but it is certainly an avenue to investigate. If it does pan out, it would require massive testing to make sure people are clear to move about.

about individuals who became infected a second time. Have those cases been debunked or verified?

There are a few reports like that, so we really need to understand it more completely.

For most viruses, including other coronaviruses, there is immunity after infection, but the prudent thing is to make certain that is also the case for this one.

Or it could not. The only thing is that we don't know.

Some who is immune may have trace amounts on their hands/clothes and carry it that way.

Someone who is infected becomes a virus factory and expels it with every breath.

Huge difference.

Gov. Cuomo, also, was in effect advocating this last week.

to intentionally catch the virus. It’s inevitable.
