In 2002, I was the sole "no" vote on the invasion of Iraq. I stood alone, and I thought I would be put out to pasture. Still, I made my decision, and I was right.
All and all, I know a thing or two about speaking truth to power.
Today, Captain Brett Crozier was relieved of command for doing the right thing for sounding the alarm about coronavirus and trying to protect those aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt.
It is wrong to chastise our leaders; we should commend them. I stand with you, Captain.

(56,829 posts)and she thinks Franken would be the strongest candidate in the general election - the woman that is the current frontrunner is there because of in state name recognition (got a lot of publicity and sympathy following some election mishap in 2018), but may not be as strong in the general election.
it wasn't her fault, but it's not a good look

(3,557 posts)They have a career built around REAL leadership and working with staffs effectively. At least with the officers Ive worked with, theyre usually humble people from humble roots. Many of them got to where they were in life through hard work and by treating people correctly along the way.
Of course there are exceptions, but theyre usually the sort of people you want to have in charge.

"I didn't grow up castrating pigs, but I do know it's never wrong to value and protect the lives of brave military men and women" . Animal husbandry may be an Iowa family-value, but protecting human lives and military missions are values of a higher order.

(296 posts)Take a long, hard, look at the admirals pedigree. Where he's served, and in what capacity, and with what mission--this is a candidate with a resume I would put up against ANY sitting senator, PERIOD. Even better--for frustrated Democrats in Steve "useless as tits on a boar" Kings congressional district--could FINALLY break the molded mindset against any Democrat in northwest Iowa. (Let's see Bob Vander Plaats CHOKE on criticizing this dude!) Link here--Seriously Iowans--and all DUers-- take a good long look--- https://frankenforiowa.org/meet-mike/

(1,851 posts)Against Tillis for the Senate. Very promising!
And retired Air Force colonel Moe Davis running for meadow's spot, which has no repug candidate at the moment. Their runoff primary has been postponed.
Glad to see these former military (Dems) stepping up, like Tammy Duckworth did, among others.
Interesting to note that I got several survey requests about Crozier's dismissal, from MSN, phrased differently. The outcomes showed that over 70% to over 80% surveyed did not approve of the action taken against him. That's why the Navy is pushing that he was reassigned, to make it play better.
As some here have said, Crozier has a bright future. Secretary of the Navy some day, or political office. Something to look forward to.
