Montgomery County receives 5,000 rotted masks from national stockpile

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — More than 5,000 medical masks that Montgomery County received from the national stockpile were rotted, the local emergency management director said Thursday.

States and cities are receiving shipments from the National Strategic Stockpile to try to relieve shortages in medical equipment because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Christi Thornton, the city/county emergency management director, said the shipment of 5,880 procedure masks received last week were unusable because of dry rot. The masks had a 2010 expiration date, according to the city’s response to a survey by the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

Thornton said they received a replacement shipment Wednesday.

Alabama has more than 1,100 confirmed cases of coronavirus, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health. There have been 32 COVID-19 deaths reported to the state; health officials have so far confirmed 17 of them.

JFC...you can't make this shit up. This is a national tragedy and these fuckers get away with standing up there talking about how the national stockpile is "there's" not the states. This is all just one big scam and a joke to these sick traitorous bastards

used to depict rot in tire rubber which isn't exactly dry rot. I wonder if they actually mean black mold that can stain rubber or filter material? That can be bleached out. If so it's still stupid that they would have to deal with it and it's negligence to the max.

And there's expiration dates on the masks. I wonder if they are designed to break down after so many years because of landfills.

The masks expired in 2010, while BHO was still in office, so Chump might well say it was the Obama administration's responsibility to use them or get rid of them. It kills me to say it, but he might be right on this one. After all, "stopped clocks" and all that...

Yes, he'll blame Obama.

Should there have been more diligent inventory control during Obama's tenure. A provisional yes, because there are questions to ask, and I can only guess at the right ones to ask instead of bullshit blame throwing.

But I'm not going to aim ire at Obama for not having everything perfect everywhere when he was obstructed at every turn by the very people who are now deflecting any criticism whatsoever.

After all, I choose not to discriminate against Republicans by "the soft bigotry of low expectations". They built this.

Chump doesn't "do" logically - . It'll end up being more poo for him to fling on Obama. But if it weren't this, it would be something else.
