But this public health crisis isnt limited to the United States. Looking over the latest Johns Hopkins data on coronavirus cases around the world uncovers a powder keg waiting to explode.
Here are five high-population countries with relatively low confirmed cases:
India: population 1.3 billion; 1,637 confirmed cases
Indonesia: population 268 million; 1,677 confirmed cases
Pakistan: population 212 million; 2,071 confirmed cases
Brazil: population 209 million; 5,916 confirmed cases
Nigeria: population 205 million; 151 confirmed cases
Perhaps theres something about this virus that doesnt target developing countries.
More likely, these countries simply lack the testing capacity to see the problem they are facing. Worse, they lack the health care infrastructure of more industrialized countries.

(6,252 posts)Look at the low infection rates in third-world countries. Rich folks dont want to vacation or party in Haiti or El Salvador.

The "exotic forbidden food" was actually the poor and middles classes markets in Wuhan, I imagine the rich don't shop there.
Tourism...mostly by numbers will be middle class and upper middle class. Not enough upper class rich to budge the numbers much, there are around 1.4 billion international arrivals per year. Of course virus's will spread faster to the countries with more International arrivals.
Rank Destination International tourist arrivals (2017)
1 France 86.9 million
2 Spain 81.9 million
3 United States 76.9 million
4 China 60.7 million
I think religion is more a disease of the poor then the rich.
Cruise liners....definitely a middle class vacation, very few cruise ships cater to the rich.

(65,168 posts)Infection rates may be overall lower because substantial parts of the society are so removed they're nearly off the grid. (Think the smaller islands in Indonesia)
But these numbers are too low to be realistic.
And in those countries' big cities, people are packed in like sardines.
Could be really bad.
