(81,475 posts)I think your post here is in Eastern time?
What's your source? I noticed when we switched to CNN that they had different numbers than what I just saw on MSNBC. I've mentioned before - these statistics threads definitely do NOT follow an immaculate scientific-method protocol of data tracking. They're mainly from MSNBC, only because that's what I'm ordinarily used to watching a majority of the time. So I'm using their stats. I have not checked back and forth each time to see what CNN or some other source offered at the same time, and then tried to average those numbers. I can't get too far "down in the weeds" because it'll make me nuts!
For example, we were watching CNN at 11:30am, Pacific time, and CNN's numbers were:
Confirmed cases: 203,100
Deaths: 4,473
A few minutes later (11:37am) we switched to MSNBC and its numbers were:
Confirmed cases: 203,788
Deaths: 4,503
MAINLY, I'm interested in tracking the rate of increase. I guess I'm morbidly curious about how bad this is and how fast it's getting worse. In roughly the same time of checking, the two different networks' numbers tracked similarly. The numbers vary a little, but wherever they come from, they indicate the upward trend and rate-of-increase in time.
Just a little "science note" from one who's sometimes hung up on the fine print...

Confirmed cases - 211,149 (more than 22-thousand new cases, just today, at least according to these particular metrics.)
Deaths - 4,735 (we've gone up almost a thousand deaths).
My mind is blown.
