6 days ago we had the US equivalent of 2500 deaths, now we have 8500
IF we get to a death rate of 100 per day (at this rate of increase we will be there in a couple days), that works out to 100,000 US deaths per month, 1.2 million per annum

together fairly closely. Multiple that by 1000, just for here in Stockholm. The restos and bars are still open, even if in some you can only get table service (obviously you can get take-away as well.)

(4,429 posts)I can't imagine that they don't change course soon.
As a retrospective case study, it will be interesting (if they keep this up).
But the toll - and suffering - it's horrible. I've seen recently that some professionals have signed a petition - I would think that citizens will become alarmed soon (if not already). I don't see how they can continue this way - I expect (hope!) that the gov't will order mitigation strategies soon. It's the only way.

(43,497 posts)and have most all things delivered so we do not have to go out shopping. We also have one of our spare rooms set up as a home gym. We both work from home now, so that is no issue.
There really is not that more we can do for ourselves TBH. It is a huge chunk of the rest of the country that is the problem, starting at the top, with the government.

(11,045 posts)The prime minister, Stefan Löfven, has urged Swedes to behave as adults and not to spread panic or rumours.
... Were not testing enough, were not tracking, were not isolating enough we have let the virus loose, said Prof Cecilia Söderberg-Nauclér, a virus immunology researcher at the Karolinska Institute. They are leading us to catastrophe.
... The government thinks they cant stop it, so theyve decided to let people die, Söderberg-Nauclér said. They dont want to listen to the scientific data thats presented to them.
