The Justice Department has started to probe a series of stock transactions made by lawmakers ahead of the sharp market downturn stemming from the spread of coronavirus, CNN reports.
The inquiry, which is still in its early stages and being done in coordination with the Securities and Exchange Commission, has so far included outreach from the FBI to at least one lawmaker, Sen. Richard Burr, seeking information about the trades.

Wouldnt be surprised if this one goes down the same path.

(5,790 posts)Ironically, Burr is arguably the most egregious, but the one he'd want to charge the least because it would represent a potential flip.
Inhofe, Feinstein, and Loeffler would be non-events in terms of the balance of power. CA would surely nominate a Dem, while GA and OK will surely nominate Republicans.

(5,790 posts)Mostly I read about Burr, then Loeffler. Inhofe and Feinstein seem to be in a second tier. Then I read vague "several lawmakers from both parties" quotes. So if Johnson is also charge-worthy, than sure - why not?
A Grand Jury might be the best course of action all around.

(118,816 posts)a showtrial to prove they are not corrupt when the GOP and anything they legislate absolutely are. Called a truthline they are running. Conservative Premier Doug Ford in Ontario holds a press conference every day to protest and embarass price gougers. He makes the news every night doing that. The word is out in conservative circles: the people know they are corrupt. Time for mitigation lest that knowledge becomes a wave.

(22,171 posts)these sales. It doesn't make them look good in anyone's eyes, especially when the vast majority of us lost $ when the markets plunged. It pisses me off to no end.
