all a politician has to do is make some grand speech about uniting and conquering this together and then spend money the way experts tell you to. let firefighers fight the fire, let let the generals order troops to do what they're trained for, or in this case, give the hospital workers the equipment they need and follow the advice of the pandemic experts.

it's not rocket science, and any remotely reasonable politician gets to look like a comforting hero to a nervous constituency.
