This virus could represent a great opportunity for red/right wing states to clamp down on abortions even more than they already have.

(46,202 posts)It is a fundamental medical right.
Just b/c you can negate a zygote by two pills, the non-surgical procedure is still necessary.
And of course, the longer a woman waits to get an abortion, she risks complications as the procedures change.

(102,379 posts)States trying to stop it, blaming COVID-19 need court injunctions. I have little doubt they will get them. Pregnancy puts women at risk, even under the best of circumstances. If they choose against the pregnancy, for whatever reason, denying them that right is putting their own health and life at risk.
Those pointing to the temporary closure of gun shops as a similar issue (temporary denial of a constitutional right) are not only wrong, but despicable imo. There are no time constraints after which you can not buy a gun.

That's what these asshats don't realize. Abortion will happen regardless of whatever threats they make.

(2,557 posts)last Tuesday morning. It was a D&C for endometrial hyperplasia. They told my doc that there would be no more surgeries after that day. He was horrified because he had a patient who needed a mastectomy and it was questionable whether she could get it done.
I hope they reconsidered.
As of that day, there were 19 COVID19 patients in the hospital. My procedure was at the women's surgery center across the road.
If it's early enough, a medically induced abortion may be possible.
