Trump has highest approval ratings ever

Totally doesn’t make sense. Trump has some of his highest ratings ever. Positioning himself as wartime president makes me think he is getting ready to drop martial law hammer.

And: In 2018, he weakened the country’s ability to respond to pandemics when he decided to dismantle a National Security Council directorate at the White House charged with preparing for them. His Interior Department failed to update a pandemic plan that was first prepared over a decade ago. His administration failed to restock the Strategic National Stockpile, America’s store

If you select your participants carefully and ask questions in a particular manner you can make any survey say what you want it to.

And then there is hacking and pay-offs that can come into play. With an opponent who is known for lying, cheating and manipulation, does anyone really think the results could be objective? Really?

That's not even HALF the population!!!!!!

His approval numbers are not really going up. He's been polling in the 40s for the longest time, and there's no real evidence that the numbers beyond his base have risen. Or ever will rise.

Real polling, IMO, won’t be seen for weeks. And believe me, when it happens, it ain’t gonna be pretty for him.

Making people bankrupt and helping cause the death of their loved ones ain't gonna play well even in the red states.

And there's every reason to believe that when COVID-19 peaks in the red states, like Florida, Texas and Arizona, they'll fare even worse because their state governments didn't do enough to prepare their populations.

Just my 2 cents.

It would be naive to discount this. Enough voted for Trump for him to eke out an Electoral College victory. Those same people will rally around someone who says what they want to hear. As to the other 10-15%, many are perpetual side-liners who will approve of anyone with enough bluster to appear in charge during a crisis. Yes, his numbers are up, NO, they may not stay high as the reality -- and wreckage -- sink in. Sorry.

Why Stockholm Syndrome Could Be A Total Myth

https://www.businessinsider.com/stockholm-syndrome-could-be-a-myth-2013-10?r=US&IR=T

The New Yorker's new profile of kidnapping survivor Elizabeth Smart makes an intriguing point about Stockholm Syndrome: It isn't a recognized psychiatric disorder. The term was coined after a 1973 bank robbery in Sweden spurred bank employees to bond with and eventually defend their captors. In America, Stockholm Syndrome was made famous by Patty Hearst, an heiress who joined the violent left-wing group that kidnapped her.

Some experts speculated that Smart had Stockholm, too, even though the disorder has rarely been studied and isn't listed in the DSM V, the bible of psychiatric disorders. One of the few academic studies on Stockholm Syndrome concludes that there's hardly any academic research on the subject. "There is very little evidence to sort of validate that Stockholm Syndrome exists," Emory University clinical psychologist Nadine Kaslow told Business Insider. She added, "It is mostly talked about in the media."

Smart's kidnapping in 2002 when she was 14 baffled the public because her captors often put her in a veil and strolled around her hometown of Salt Lake City. When Smart was rescued after nine months, experts speculated to The New York Times that she didn't try to flee earlier because she suffered from Stockholm Syndrome and identified with her captors.

''The captor also becomes the nurturer," child psychologist Dr. Arthur Brand told the Times. "They're an abuser, but also the only person who can take care of you and keep you alive." The FBI's Law Enforcement Bulletin reported in 2007 that it wasn't unheard of for captives to bond with their kidnappers but that it was a rare occurrence. For her part, Smart rejects the theory that she identified with her kidnappers. She says she remained with them because she was terrified.
