For him to speak out like this against the Trump administration tells me that is constituents are ringing his offices off the hook about the lack of help from D.C.

11. You know, I've changed my mind on Trump

I've characterized the administration's response as bungling or incompetent or, as Rose says, disgusting and a dereliction of duty. But I've come to a different conclusion in the last few days. Reporters and people on the street have been decrying the administration's actions, but to no effect. Public health experts and epidemiologists - the first people we should be listening to right now - have uniformly weighed in with workable, achievable actions that should be instituted and followed. But the Trump administration has done none of it. Instead, we get the daily tantrum from the president about how unfairly he's being treated.

So, I've changed my mind. This isn't bungling. It's not incompetent. It is disgusting, but it's not a dereliction of duty, at least not the duty that Trump sees for himself. Trump and the administration are doing exactly what they are setting out to do. Their weak response is just what they intend. They can see the numbers of infected and dying just as well as anyone else. They know the disease vectors and how to hamper or cut them off entirely. But they're not doing that, because that's not what they want to happen.

This is playing out precisely as Trump and his administration want it to play out. This is not accidental or incidental. More sickness and death is what Trump wants. End of story.
