able to overcome (and be reelected) say, 1.5 millions deaths in the US, including huge swathes of his core goons' families, then without a shred of the doubt the US is headed for a dissolution of the union within 15 to 20 years max, for a literal multiplicity of deeply structural and socio-cultural reasons.

For but one example, if Trump takes the SCOTUS to 7-2 or even 8-1 (Sotomayor has horrid chronic diabetes) HARD RW, plus replaces Thomas with a much younger version of thug, that alone will be a fundamental driver of the break-up, as the Red States will flood the Federal courts (who will be by then even more stacked with crazed RWe'ers after 4 more Trumpian years as long as the Senate is in Rethug control) with test cases that are intended to roll back ALL post-Brown v Board (and Brown itself) civil rights. Then Trump and the Rethugs will not just devolve things back to the states, but will try, via federal force if necessary, to initiate a Gilead-style radical RW Xian theocracy. The Blue states will never submit, and will start to make moves towards succession.

stages of the disease and they can't get help because their local health systems are starting to reach capacity amidst escalating cases. This rodeo is just getting started. Give it 2-3 more weeks of progression and all this stupid right wing tough talk about going to work and to church and sacrificing grandma and grandpa for the economy will dissipate, at which time it will all turn very ugly for Donald Trump. He isn't going to be able to bullshit his way through this.

it makes him look like he's in charge. The media cannot fact check his Firehose of Falsehoods in real time, and Dr. Fauci is too nice most of the time to really call out Trump. So, if people tune out after the conference is over, they won't see the media fact checking him afterwards.

The numbers will be even more horrifying by then, the economy will still be staggering along trying to recover, and there is video of him saying it’ll be just 15 people, that he wants people to go back to work a week from now, etc.

There would have been a pandemic no matter what he did, but if he had listened to experts instead of the voices in his head, he would have ordered PPE and ventilators in January and the health care system would not be nearly as strained. His decisions and his alone will have made this utterly catastrophic rather than painful.

If Putin can’t hack the election, he will lose.

people get what is going to happen. I’d guess some think it’s just a big city thing and since they live in a rural area they’ll be ok. If they counted the hospital beds around them they’d realize they may be even more screwed than their big city cousins.

People will start looking at their 401ks.

There will be congressional hearings about the mishandling of the testing process. Mass subpoenas of records, etc. It will be a big story right around the time of the election.

The media will shift from covering body counts to digging into what went wrong. I suspect there will be a lot of leaks.

We will have enormous sums of money spent to define his response to corona by people like Bloomberg that are likely to be quite brutal.

We are still likely to have a high unemployment rate at the time of the election.

It will be a steady drip drip drip effect sometimes coming in torrents. He should be polling in the 70s and 80s. By the time he's done getting his teeth kicked in over the next 7 months anyone not in the cult will not only think he did a shitty job on the virus, they will think he created it at mar a lago.
