I wonder what the Costco idiot is thinking now

Last edited Wed Mar 25, 2020, 03:15 AM - Edit history (1)

I live in the Atlanta area. A few weeks ago when Coronavirus was first becoming a reality here in the US, I was walking into Costco when the workers were at that time wiping the cart handles as you entered. A 50 plus year old man (definitely a Trumpet) who had no cart was lecturing the workers about flu being worse and statistics and blah blah blah. I let them wipe down my cart handle and then I did something I never do. I confronted the idiot.

I waited until we were several yards inside and I told him he was being disingenuous given the fact that we had no idea how many people had the virus due to the lack of available testing (sadly still a reality). He responded by saying his girlfriend works for the CDC. I'm not kidding, that's all he had. I proceeded to tell him my aunt and 2 cousins work for the CDC and one of them is an epidemiologist but that has nothing to do with the fact that there weren't enough tests to draw any solid conclusions.

He then said he would "take that into consideration" with a smirk on his face and I walked off realizing that it was probably pointless. I couldn't help but think about why a person with no cart was trying to discourage the workers from wiping down carts for people who actually had carts. Why was this so triggering to him? And then it hit me. Miserable Trumpets who listen to right wing propaganda all day feel emboldened to spew their nonsense on others because seeing people doing common sense things and being kind to others runs counter to everything they hear. That is the trigger. Common sense and decency to others.

Well, now that this issue has spiralled into a Trumpian Tornado, I wonder what the Costco idiot is thinking as he sits at home watching the lies and propaganda fall apart hour by hour and day by day. His "statistics" can no longer stand up to the FACT that this virus is so contagious and so deadly that it has locked down cities across the world. No flu ever killed so many people in one nursing home.

Now the Costco idiot is probably out of toilet paper since he was so sure this was all just a lib hoax and it would be over in a few days. As he ponders where he went wrong, I hope he thinks back to the conversation he had with me and the false information he was spewing to those workers who were just doing what their bosses asked them to do and feels like a complete jackass because that's exactly what he deserves.

He is a hate filled asshole and that doesn't change. Even if his nearest and dearest died of this he would still not change. Idiots. Don't waste your time and energy. If they get sick and go bankrupt I have no pity for them. Karma!

All this time they could live in the Fux News bubble and believe all the lies their dear leader spews but not anymore. I checked and to my surprise (and delight) every day when Governor Cuomo gives his coronavirus presser they carry it on Fux News too. On the side panel just like with our MSNBC & CNN stations, they post all the stats of the infected and of the dead in real time. I doubt he is calling it a lib hoax anymore.

The cognitive dissonance must be strong with this one.

The lies and propaganda are merely replaced with different lies and propaganda!

We work in a clinic and get daily, at times hourly, reports and updates about COVID. The other day she told me that people carrying COVID without symptoms could not pass the virus on. I was incredulous. Had she not read any of the information we were getting? She didn't believe it.

The fact that experts predicted it doesn't matter. They've learned from Trump the way to think. All that matters is what you want to think right now. The past, the future, reality itself has no place in any discussion. You believe whatever puts you in the best light at the moment.

who were so indoctrinated by the Nazi cult that they refused to believe that the war and genocides were wrong long after the war was over. They sang the praises of Adolf as a patriotic hero and military genius, even though he lost the war and committed suicide. They denied that Germany was the aggessor in Poland and insisted that they only defended themselves against Polish aggression and that Britain and .France started the war by attacking Germany for defending itself against Poland.

The Costco jerk is like that, I'm sure. Will always belueve whatever Trump and his followers say.

Not worth talking to them. It gives their idiocy legitimacy to try to have a rational discussion with them. I just treat them as annoying pests and walk away or tell them to shut up.

He's scared to death right now and still looking for toilet paper. So much for his rant about the flu and "statistics". Should probably consider dumping the girlfriend too if she was the one who really fed him that garbage. If she actually exists that is.
